Frequently Asked Questions

Physiotherapy is treatment to restore, maintain, and make the most of a patient’s mobility, function, and well-being. Physiotherapy helps through physical rehabilitation, injury prevention, and health and fitness. Physiotherapists get you involved in your own recovery.

People use massage for a variety of health-related purposes, including to relieve pain, rehabilitate sports injuries, reduce stress, increase relaxation, address anxiety and depression, and aid general wellness.

Our experienced Registered Massage Therapists at Back in Motion can help you with a variety of challenges, including the restoration of postural alignment, proper biomechanics, and relieving muscle tension related to sports injuries or auto accidents. Learn more.

Shockwave therapy is a safe, non-invasive procedure often recommended by Orthopedic Surgeons for treating many tendon, muscle and joint disorders. By applying a series of acoustic wave pulsations directly to the site of injury, shockwave therapy stimulates the body’s natural self-healing process and can be very effective in treating chronic, recurrent or unresolved conditions. Physiotherapy, massage therapy, and in some cases, Kinesiology are covered by extended health plans.  Equally as important, we offer direct billing to reduce or eliminate out-of-pocket expense.

You do not need a referral from your Physician for Physiotherapy or Massage Therapy, however we will send a brief note to your physician detailing the diagnosis and treatment plan. Also, extended health plans no longer require a Physician referral to qualify for coverage.

In some cases, you may be eligible for MSP coverage; contact the front desk to learn more.

Our Practitioners can make an accurate diagnosis regardless but wearing loose clothing that allows for full movement makes the process easier.

It is mandatory to establish an accurate diagnosis, so that will be the focus of your Practitioner at your first appointment. Once a diagnosis has been made, your Practitioner will explain the treatment plan and get started with treatment.

The first appointment typically takes 45 – 60 minutes, depending on the diagnosis.

Some conditions can see a full resolution in as few as one to two appointments, but most treatment plans require four to six appointments depending on the condition.  Your Practitioner will detail your treatment plan on your first appointment.

If you need to change your appointment, we ask for notice 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment.

If you need to cancel your appointment, we ask for notice 24 hours prior to your scheduled appointment. If you have been unable to make your appointment more than once or twice, your therapist may choose to apply the cancellation fee ($30 for Physiotherapy, full fee for RMT).

We have locations across the Lower Mainland and Victoria with flexible hours throughout the week. Learn more.

Our Physiotherapists are all registered with the College of Physiotherapists of BC.
