Sports Rehabilitation in the Lower Mainland
Return to sport quicker, stronger, and better prepared.
About Sports Rehab
Sports Rehab is a safe therapeutic approach focused on helping individuals manage symptoms, return to normal function (or pre-injury state), and enhance sport/activity performance.
No matter if you are a professional athlete, a competitive player, or a recreational athlete, you all have the same goal: to achieve a full return to performance as soon as possible, with a minimal risk of re-injury.
Sports rehab consists of targeted exercises to:
- return to pre-injury function
- reduce mobility restrictions
- prevent re-injury or worsening of the condition
- optimize performance
- education on gait, posture, form of movement
Back in Motion Health Sports Rehab team (Physiotherapist and/or a Kinesiologist) will perform a full physical examination of your biomechanical alignment, joints, ligaments, muscles/tendons, and nerves to determine a precise diagnosis of your injury and measure the extent of any damage.
Our trained clinicians will review your history to identify any potential training errors, as well as prescribe a sport-specific strengthening and stretching plan, necessary to prevent recurrence of injury.
Treatment options may include:
Graston Technique
Exercise Prescription
Shockwave Therapy for chronic recurrent problems
Athletic Taping
Neuromuscular Stimulation for “slow-to-fire” muscles

Before Your Appointment
If there are any specific preparations required for your appointment, you will be advised prior to your appointment day.
Your First Appointment
In your first appointment, your Physiotherapist will do a comprehensive assessment, provide you with a diagnosis and share your treatment plan, which will include pain-management techniques, education, guidance and prevention. As able, your treatment will also include a gradual plan to return to hobbies, physical activities or sport.
Subsequent Appointments
Your Physiotherapist will perform an assessment to verify progress and check how the treatment and exercise plan is working for you. The treatment in each session will be determined by your Physiotherapist based on your treatment plan and goals. Techniques and modalities in your treatment plan will be chosen accordingly to clinical findings and condition progress. Your Physiotherapist may also suggest including a Kinesiologist in your treatment team, if more in-depth strength and conditioning is needed.
At the end of the session, you will be reminded to book your follow-up appointments, when needed. You may do that with your clinician, call one of our locations, or book online.
After Your Appointment
You will receive subsequent exercises and educational materials (if applicable), and exercises to perform at home between appointments.

Workplace injuries are usually due to trauma or overuse. If you have been injured as a result of a workplace activity, our team of experts at Back in Motion can perform a comprehensive assessment and develop a treatment plan to reduce your symptoms and rehabilitate your injury.
If your claim is approved by WSBC, your initial assessment is 100% covered with a WorkSafeBC Claim number. Once your claim has been accepted by WorkSafeBC, the full treatment cost of your appointments will be funded (within the approved time parameters). When you are ready, your physiotherapist will work with you, your employer, physician, and WorkSafeBC Case Manager to develop a safe and appropriate return to work plan. If your claim has been denied or is disallowed, the expenses will need to be covered by the Client.
