Meet Steven
Steven is a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) who joined the BiM Coquitlam team in December 2018. He graduated from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy in 2018 and also holds a Bachelor of Science from the School of Computing Science at Simon Fraser University. After more than a decade of working in Information Technology, Steven rediscovered his passion for health and fitness, which led him to pursue a career in healthcare. He provides one-on-one massage therapy to a wide range of clients, including those with extended health benefits, private pay patients, and individuals with ICBC claims, focusing on identifying and addressing areas of weakness and restriction to support recovery.
Steven’s approach to rehabilitation centers on helping clients return to the activities they enjoy as quickly as possible through effective treatment plans that combine massage therapy and home care. Outside of work, he enjoys hiking, weightlifting, occasional bouldering, and video games, and is an avid reader of science fiction.
Kelsey Makenny
Meet Kelsey
Kelsey is a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) who joined the BiM Coquitlam team in November 2018 after graduating from the West Coast College of Massage Therapy. She has experience treating a wide range of conditions, including soft tissue injuries such as strains and sprains, tension headaches, neurological conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome and sciatica, and postural imbalances. In addition to her RMT designation, Kelsey holds a diploma in Exercise and Wellness from Camosun College and is certified as a Personal Trainer through the Canadian Society of Exercise Physiology. Her athletic background provides valuable insight into the treatment of sport-specific injuries and active rehabilitation.
Kelsey offers one-on-one therapy for a variety of patients, including those using extended health benefits, private pay clients, and individuals with ICBC claims, with a focus on identifying and addressing areas of weakness and restriction to support recovery. WorkSafeBC Claims
Workplace injuries are usually due to trauma or overuse. If you have been injured as a result of a workplace activity, our team of experts at Back in Motion can perform a comprehensive assessment and develop a treatment plan to reduce your symptoms and rehabilitate your injury.
If your claim is approved by WSBC, your initial assessment is 100% covered with a WorkSafeBC Claim number. Once your claim has been accepted by WorkSafeBC, the full treatment cost of your appointments will be funded (within the approved time parameters). When you are ready, your physiotherapist will work with you, your employer, physician, and WorkSafeBC Case Manager to develop a safe and appropriate return to work plan. If your claim has been denied or is disallowed, the expenses will need to be covered by the Client.
