About Physiotherapy
Physiotherapy is a healthcare profession that assists people to restore, maintain and maximize their movement, function, strength and overall health. The treatment includes all aspects of the client care: interview, assessment, diagnosis, treatment recommendations and planning, exercise prescription, education, and functional/activity level progressions.
Your physiotherapist will screen to make sure no further medical investigations or consultations are needed. Your Physiotherapist will work with you to create relevant, achievable goals of treatment.
Is Physiotherapy for me?
The treatment is intended for anyone with acute or chronic musculoskeletal pain, or difficulties with physical function, and/or chronic health conditions where exercise or activity modifications are recommended. You do not need a physician referral, and most insurance carriers cover Telehealth through direct billing.

Before Your Appointment
If there are any specific preparations required for your appointment, you will be advised prior to your appointment day.
Your First Appointment
In your first appointment, your Physiotherapist will do a comprehensive assessment, provide you with a diagnosis and share your treatment plan, which will include pain-management techniques, education, guidance and prevention. As needed, your treatment will also include a gradual plan to return to hobbies and physical activities.
Subsequent Appointments
Your Physiotherapist will perform an assessment to verify progress and check how the treatment and exercise plan is working for you. The treatment in each session will be determined by your Physiotherapist based on your treatment plan and goals. Techniques and modalities in your treatment plan will be chosen accordingly to clinical findings and condition progress.
At the end of the session, you will be reminded to book your follow-up appointments, when needed. You may do that with your clinician, call one of our locations, or book online.
After Your Appointment
You will receive subsequent exercises and educational materials (if applicable), as well as a summary of your visit.
You will also receive an email to complete a client satisfaction form, to provide you with the opportunity for feedback and suggestions. We take feedback seriously, and we implement comprehensive quality improvements plans to better serve you, every day.
Frequently Asked Questions
Physiotherapy treatment is offered in-person and through Telehealth. The majority of injuries and conditions respond well to powerful treatment interventions that are utilized through Telehealth, however, some Physiotherapy treatment modalities are only available in in-person appointments. ICBC Insurance Claims

WorkSafeBC Claims
Workplace injuries are usually due to trauma or overuse. If you have been injured as a result of a workplace activity, our team of experts at Back in Motion can perform a comprehensive assessment and develop a treatment plan to reduce your symptoms and rehabilitate your injury.
If your claim is approved by WSBC, your initial assessment is 100% covered with a WorkSafeBC Claim number. Once your claim has been accepted by WorkSafeBC, the full treatment cost of your appointments will be funded (within the approved time parameters). When you are ready, your physiotherapist will work with you, your employer, physician, and WorkSafeBC Case Manager to develop a safe and appropriate return to work plan. If your claim has been denied or is disallowed, the expenses will need to be covered by the Client.
