Massage therapy offers many benefits for physical and mental health. Among the top physical benefits are massage’s ability to provide relief for acute and chronic pain, reduce muscle tension, improve flexibility and range of motion, and decrease joint inflammation.
The mental health benefits include a reduction of stress and anxiety and improving mood by increasing the production of serotonin and dopamine. Massage therapy can also help manage symptoms of depression.
